Job Title: Vice President of Member Services

Department: Financial Services

Immediate Supervisor: Chief Member Services Officer


Job Summary:

Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to all team members of the financial services department, under the supervision of the Chief Member Services Officer. Plan, organize and direct all lending and member services related activities of the Credit Union. In addition to managing the daily activities, a successful individual in this roll will place emphasis on continual improvement of operation efficiencies as well as service quality standards, putting the members satisfaction at the center of everything we do.

Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000 annually, exempt plus benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge base of credit union products, procedures, and policies as they relate to consumer and mortgage lending and member services.
  • Ensures the department is providing professional, timely, personalized service to all members both new and existing.
  • Plans and develops department procedures, goals, and objectives. Implement actions to achieve those goals and objectives.
  • Place high value on member relationships by striving to provide exceptional member service in all branches, producing member satisfaction.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Coordinate the priorities of staffing and scheduling to anticipate personnel requirements that ensure the most efficient and effective use of staff.
  • Create a motivational environment within the company by encouraging employees to succeed and ensure effective recognition.
  • Ensure common and consistent communication messages to branch employees, which support the strategic goals of the company. Coordinate with Marketing to communicate and support campaigns.
  • Will be an active participant in helping to develop a sales/service culture and be responsible for developing a sales program to cross-sell products and services.
  • Act as senior loan officer for the Credit Union. Approve or deny loans within the approved limits and policy restrictions. Underwrite problem or complex loans and act on requests for policy exceptions within the approved authority.
  • Hold periodic staff meetings. Identify areas for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, security issues or changes in services or products. Keep staff up to date on trends and general credit union information.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal Reserve regulations (i.e., B, X, Z, FDCPA, HMDA, TRID and all other state and federal regulations) related to lending, collections, and consumer protection.
  • Various other duties as assigned.
  • Identify reportable transactions and activities under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), its implementing regulations, and Unison's Anti-Money Laundering program. Comply with requirements under Unison's Member (Customer) Identification Program (CIP), FinCEN 314a procedures, and OFAC regulations and sanction programs.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in consumer and mortgage lending of 3 - 5 years, including but not limited to origination, processing, and compliance.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Well versed in technology including various applications such as Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)
  • Strong leadership, time management and member service skills.
  • Individually provide strategic and/or administrative direction and management in all lending and member service areas of the Credit Union.
  • Thorough knowledge of all credit union products, services, service delivery systems, and general operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of loan products and programs of competing organizations in the marketplace.
  • Serve as a role model by exhibiting professionalism and have a well-developed interpersonal skill necessary for serving the Credit Union members and projecting a positive image as a representative of the Credit Union.
  • Must be able to pass a federal criminal background check.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years lending experience in a credit union, bank, finance company, or the equivalent combination of formal training and experience obtained at a credit granting institution of comparable size and complexity.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Additional evening and weekend hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.


Physical and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use a keyboard to enter text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a keyboard. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear, interpret and understand speech and/or other sounds to assist our credit union members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see details at close range most often from a computer screen. This position requires manual dexterity, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods of time. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.


Work Environment:

Work is performed in an indoor office environment. This position uses standard office equipment, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, computers, etc. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The work characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
